MANDATORY BASIC INSURANCE

When you rent a car in Costa Rica, you are offered a daily rate. It must include liability insurance . You will find it under the acronym " TI " or " TPI Third Party Liabilities ", sometimes called SLI, SLC or API ) "in the general conditions of the contract. Material and physical damage caused to third parties is thus covered.
If this insurance is not included in any credit card and if it is not included in the quote, it will be added at the time of rental (even if your card covers CDW).

" CDW (Collision Damage Waivers ") , the vehicle damage guarantee. This insurance which is optional for personal vehicles in Costa Rica is mandatory for all rental vehicles .

" TPP - Total Protection Package "
This Total Protection Package (TTP COVERAGE) insurance covers windshields and broken windows, vandalism, tires, scratches, wrinkled sheet metal, everything is insured, whether or not you are responsible for the incident, you can go with peace of mind.
